Columbus Police's new crime-prediction strategy so far a success

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Columbus Police are seeing great success with a new strategy they are using to fight crime.

Using the intelligence-led policing model, officers analyze numbers and are able to respond to reported crimes just minutes after they happen, and sometimes even before the crimes occur.

Accused murderer Jacinto Robinson was free on bond following a shooting that occurred last year, and now he is back in jail because of this new strategy. Police found him in Winston St. on Monday with an illegal gun.

Last week, police made three arrests on Illges Rd. when they were led by the policing model to an address as it was coincidentally being burglarized.

Police arrested Justice Anderson, Nicolas Fitzpatrick, and a juvenile as they were attempting to get into a house by standing on a car in the backyard and crawling through a window.
