TUSCUMBIA, AL (WAFF) -

A Shoals roadway was reopened hours after emergency crews shut it down during a Friday afternoon wreck. It happened along Highway 72 East in Tuscumbia.

The driver of the 18-wheeler and his dog were pulled out by three witnesses. A person who was in a separate car went to the hospital. Their injuries are unknown.

Witnesses in the Dollar General parking lot said they heard a bang, and saw the tractor-trailer barreling toward them. They said it flipped on its side, lost its load, and kept coming.

The rig took out some power lines and landed upside-down in the parking lot of the store.

One woman said all she could do was beep her horn and brace for impact. She said her son was one of the men who helped free the driver.

"It kept flipping over onto its back and sliding all around. All I could do was just lay on my horn to warn, because there was a little baby in the car right next to me. All I could do was pray," said Kathy Mullins.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
