MARION COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Marion County is hosting Gator Fest at the Columbia Water Park Saturday.

The event will feature a BBQ cook-off contest, a live gator pool for the kids, canoe and kayak races on the Pearl River, and various arts and craft booths.

Marion County Supervisor Terry Broome said one of the reasons for the event is to showcase the work the county has done to improve the park. Broome hopes Gator Fest will become and annual event.

Gator fest begins at 9 a.m. saturday morning at the Columbia Water Park of of Highway 35 South.
