NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Channel 4 reporter Jennifer Herron spends most of her time keeping an eye on the traffic moving around town. But in the last few weeks, she's been moving around the dance floor, and it's all for a good cause.

Dancing with the Nashville Stars aims to raise money to reduce hunger in rural America, and Jennifer's doing it one dance step at a time.

"I have written down every step of this dance, and I sleep with that piece of paper. Yes, I'm out to win," she said.

And she's making it look easy with professional dance partner Dusty Johnson.

"I really didn't think I could. There are so many things to remember - put your head here, put your hand here, don't do this, heel first, toe first!" Jennifer said.

This isn't easy.

"Taking someone who has never danced before and taking her out here, within 20 lessons getting her moving around the floor. Foxtrot is actually one of the hardest dances to actually do," Johnson said. "She's doing wonderful."

Away from the dance floor, Jennifer's day starts early. Before 4 a.m., she's at Channel 4 ready to do a live ad-lib dance on the air with traffic updates.

Then, she does the hustle to get to dance lessons.

"It has been fun. I wake up so early, I'd usually just come home and crash on the couch. Now that I come here for dance lessons, I have more energy. My house is clean, my yard is mowed, and it's rejuvenated me. It's good," Jennifer said.

Jennifer would love to have your vote. Each vote costs $1, and all the money goes to Feed America First.

Dancing with the Nashville Stars is set for Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. at The Factory in Franklin.
