AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

Monday at around 9:30 a.m. on Wire Road in Auburn, a concerned resident called police about a possible burglary in progress.

The neighbor said they were watching two suspects carrying electronics out of a home and into a car.

"We had officers in the vicinity, located the vehicle, tried to do a routine traffic stop and the vehicle refused to stop," explains Captain Lorenza Dorsey of the Auburn Police Division.

That is when the suspects lead police onto I-85 south for the next 20 minutes.

The car eventually stopped on Patrick Avenue in Tuskegee, where one man was arrested and the other suspect fled on foot.

Authorities arrested 19-year-old Shaheyne Thomas of Tuskegee and charged him with Burglary in the Third Degree, Theft of Property in the Second Degree and Probation of Violation.

Police now need your help finding the second suspect, 22-year-old Daron Martin of Tuskegee.

Neighbors who declined to go on camera, but witnessed the arrest of Thomas, said it looked like a well-coordinated between multiple police departments in the area.

"This was a great example of the community getting involved and notifying police when they see something suspicious and we appreciate that and we certainly encourage the public to continue and call us with any information, anything suspicious whatsoever," says Dorsey.

Thomas was transported to the Lee County Jail where his bond was set for $8,000.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Martin is asked to call the Auburn Police Division at 334-821-3000 (or) 334-501-3140 or the Tip Line at 334-246-1391.
