Motorcyclist killed in collision with garbage truck in Phoenix

PHOENIX (CBS5) -

One motorcycle rider has been killed after colliding with a garbage truck in Phoenix on Friday morning.

When officers arrived at the crash just before 7 a.m. Friday, a motorcyclist was found in the roadway near Cave Creek and 16th Street. The motorcyclist, later identified as Jason Nazos, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators said Nazos was heading southbound on Cave Creek Road from Thunderbird when he collided with a garbage truck making a left turn onto Cave Creek Road.

A 34-year-old man driving the garbage truck was not hurt.

Police are investigating what led to the crash.
