3rd Muscogee County Jail inmate dies in two weeks

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Coroner Buddy Bryan has identified the inmate who was allegedly killed by his cell mate as 57-year-old Issac Kendred. 

According to Bryan, Kendred died at the Muscogee County Jail, and this death is being investigated as a murder.

Kendred appears to have been beaten to death by his cell mate.

The suspect has been identified as Jeffrey McKinney, who is now charged with murder and aggravated assault, among other charges. McKinney is scheduled for first appearance hearing in municipal court on Wednesday, Nov. 13.

EMS was called to the jail in reference to a body being found in a cell after 11:30 p.m. Nov. 8. The victim was pronounced dead at 12:30 a.m. Nov. 9.

This marks the third death at the jail in two weeks.
