VALLEY, AL (WTVM) -

The Valley Police Department are investigating the death of a 43-year-old man.

On Nov. 10 at approximately 11 p.m., officers were called to a residence in the 200 block of Glass Rd. in the Fairfax Community after an incident was reported.

Officers found Courtland Larae Harper of Valley shot once. Harper was transported to George H. Lanier Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Harper's family says he was a loving father of two and a well-liked man in the community, always willing to help those in need.

"He was a playful person, a cheerful person," said the victim's cousin Marshonntri Reid. "He didn't have any enemies. How could you be an enemy to someone who is so giving and so caring to his family and friends? A person like that doesn't make any enemies."

No arrests have been made so far. The investigation continues.

Anyone with information concerning this crime is asked to call the Valley Police Department at 334-756-5200 or the Valley Area Crime Stoppers at 334-756-8200.

A $1,000 reward is offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) responsible.
