Gary Gibson was unanimously voted the new superintendent of Taylor County, Ga.
Gibson is the Athletics Director for the Muscogee County School District. He is also the Chief Administrative Assistant to the Muscogee County Superintendent, David Lewis.
News Leader 9 was the only local TV news crew at the meeting. We spoke with Gibson right after the voting took place.
"I'm excited, can't wait to get started. We'll miss Muscogee County, there's some things there that I truly love, but this is the next chapter. I'm looking forward to it," he says.
The current Superintendent for Taylor County, Wayne Smith, is retiring on December after 24 years in the position.
It is unknown when Gibson will start his new job.
