MUSCOGEE COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - At a press conference on Nov. 12, Muscogee County Sheriff John Darr announced that he has contacted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to investigate the three recent deaths at the Muscogee County Jail.
The first death occurred in late October when a female inmate was found dead inside her cell. The coroner says Lori Carroll had a punctured lung and broken ribs.
Less than a week after that incident another inmate, Maurice Grier, was pronounced dead. Grier allegedly died of a brain aneurysm.
In early November, Isaac Kindred was allegedly killed by his cell mate, who has been charged with murder and aggravated assault.
Darr said in a press release that he will not release any more information until the investigation is completed by the GBI and Sheriff's office.
At this point, we have no timeline on how long the investigations will likely last.
