A new interactive map divides the country's communities into 15 different categories.

Featured on The Washington Post's website, the map shows the United States in a color-coded format that divides every state into sections.

Created by Dante Chinni, journalist and co-author of Our Patchwork Nation: The Surprising Truth About the "Real" America, the map is designed to explain who Americans are by characterizing their communities.
