(WTVM) -

It's a face Muscogee County Sheriff officials want you to etch in your memory.

Fifty-five year old Gerald Tatum was originally charged with aggravated assault with intent to rape a child under the age of 14. And with active warrants for failure to register and violation of probation sheriff officials want him off the streets ASAP!

"Once the warrant gets put out, they are on a diligent search, they start following the trail and they don't stop at checking on a place one time, even if the people say he's not home and hasn't been here in awhile. They still have a tendency to go back and check from time to time. Just to make sure people are not harboring them or trying to protect them," says Muscogee County Sheriff Deputy Jeffrey Hackey.

Tatum stands 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 186 pounds. His last known address is on Windham Court in Columbus, but there are no signs of him there now. So remember Tatum is considered dangerous.

"Anybody who's going to target small children, everybody should consider him dangerous. Don't make contact with him with him or if you see him or if you see somebody who might be him let us come there and get him," says Deputy Hackey.

If you know the whereabouts of Gerald Tatum you are asked to call the Muscogee County Sheriff's office at (706) 653-4225, and remember your identity will remain anonymous.
