Report: Marcus Lattimore to begin practice next week

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

Former Gamecocks running back Marcus Lattimore is expected to begin practice this week for his new NFL team after spending the past several months rehabbing his injured knee, according to a report.

A tweet from Comcast Sports Network's Matt Maiocco says the former South Carolina superstar is expected to get some practice reps soon.

However, Lattimore, who was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in last April's NFL Draft, still likely won't see any game action this year. He opened the season on the non-football injury list, meaning he wouldn't be able to play for the first few weeks of the season but the door was open for him to play closer to the end of the regular season.

Lattimore dislocated his right knee and tore his ACL in his final season with the Gamecocks in the game against Tennessee.

After weeks of reflection and recovery, he decided to forgo his senior season and declare for the draft.
