PINE MOUNTAIN, GA (WTVM) -

Thanksgiving hasn't arrived yet, but people can get a head start in enjoying some holiday events.

Callaway Garden's 22nd annual Fantasy in Lights begins on November 15 with "University Spirit Night," and their special events will continue until November 21.

However. Fantasy in Lights will go on until December 30, 2013

"We see about 160,000 to 180,000 people in November and December every year," said Rachel Crumbley, a spokesperson for Callaway Garden. " Fantasy in Lights is composed of eight million lights, and it is about five miles long."

Crumbley also said Callaway Garden used to dread winter, because people did not visit when it was cold 22 years ago.

"Then we took some ideas from Virginia Callaway, our co-founder- and turned what was our slowest season to our busiest season of the year," Crumbley explained. "Not only do we see thousands of people in our resort every winter, but we also hire people from left to right to fill all the positions we have for our winter events."

Callaway Garden's Fantasy in Lights has made its name on CNN's Five Real-Life Wonderland list, and it was also named one of the Top Ten Holiday Light Displays in the World by National Geographical Travel magazine.

"It motivates our team to have a great light show every year," Crumbley explained.

Callaway Garden also brings positive economic impact for surrounding regions.

"Columbus, LaGrange and of course, Harris County benefit from such a large event such as Fantasy in Lights," Crumbley said. "Restaurants, hotels, and gas stations are some businesses that really profit from our light events."

Callaway Garden is offering special rates and sales for people interested in attending multiple of its events. Click on the link to this website for more information.
