RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) -

Two brothers from Columbus, Ga. have died in an automobile accident at Knowles Rd. and Crosswinds Rd. in Russell County, Ala., according to Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry, Jr.

Ronnie Short, Jr., 25, and Derrick Short, 37, were riding in a 1998 silver Mustang with one other passenger when the driver lost control of the wheel. The car hit a ravine and crash into nearby bushes.

The cause of the accident is otherwise unknown at this time. The brothers were pronounced dead at the scene at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013.

A third passenger was injured and transported to Midtown Medical Center for treatment. The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time.

A neighbor had called 911 after hearing someone calling out for help around 9 a.m.

The bodies are being sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Science on Monday for autopsy.
