GAINESVILLE, FL (RNN) - No. 16 Florida beat Southern 67-53 but lost a point guard in the process.
Freshman Kasey Hill, who was averaging about 10 points per game, suffered a sprained ankle early in the second half and had to be helped off the court. He did not return to the game.
The Gators (3-1) scored on 24 of their 60 attempted field goals and six of their 20 attempted 3-pointers. Patric Young led with a season-high 12 points, and Casey Prather had nine rebounds and four assists.
Florida led the Jaguars (1-4) 35-19 at the half, but Southern outscored the Gators in the second half, 34-32. The Jaguars had some trouble landing 3-pointers, however, only making three of their 16 attempts.
Florida will host the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders on Thursday, Nov. 21.
