ETOWAH COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

A small town in Etowah County is remembering a young football player.

Sardis High School senior Christian Ogle died Friday following a car accident that injured two other teenagers. The 17-year-old was known as "Blade" to his friends.

Tuesday, his visitation and funeral were held at Sardis Baptist Church, just across the street from the high school.

Sardis High School Principal Wendy Gibbs says Ogle was a friend to everyone. She says the entire senior class met in the field house Monday to remember hime and counselors were available to anyone who needed them.

"He was friends with everyone there. He's going to be missed. He's a big--I think I described him as a big teddy bear. He was just that kind of student, that kind of boy, always had a smile, always had a joke to tell. He's going to be greatly missed," she said.

A fund is set up at Liberty Bank in Sardis for anyone wishing to make donations to the family to help cover funeral costs.
