Governor candidate David Pennington visits Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A Republican mayor from north Georgia with eyes on the Governor's Mansion is asking residents of Columbus for his vote.

Dalton Mayor David Pennington stopped by the Fountain City to meet with voters on Wednesday.

This morning, Pennington ate breakfast at Ruth Ann's restaurant in Columbus where voters got a chance ask him questions.

Pennington tells News Leader 9 what he thinks voters are looking for in a governor.

"…and I think Georgia is still a conservative state, and they are looking for a conservative governor...which is, do you believe in less spending, less taxes, less regulations and open and transparent government?" said Pennington.

To win, Pennington will have to beat fellow Republican incumbent Governor Nathan Deal.

Pennington says Georgia's next governor needs to be someone who spent his lifetime creating jobs.
