Wild fire may cause smoke for Fort Benning and surrounding areas

Posted: Updated:
FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) -

The Main Post and surrounding areas may experience smoke today, Nov. 21, and possibly tomorrow from a wild fire caused by military training.

The fire is burning in the A-20 impact area behind Red Cloud Range.  It has been secured, confined, and will continue to burn until it burns out or is rained out, according to the Maneuver Center of Excellence.

The direction of the wind may push the smoke onto Main Post and into the surrounding communities.

Fort Benning's Forestry Division will continue to monitor the wildfire.
