Great American Smokeout encourages smokers to quit

Health organizations around the country are coming together for the Great American Smokeout.

It's a day where smokers are encouraged to make the commitment to quit, even if only for one day.

Many people may find it challenging to quit smoking, due to the combination of chemical effects and psychological associations that promote the desire to smoke.

We spoke to a doctor from the Amos Cancer Center about today's event. 

Tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the U.S.
