Multiple crashes affecting traffic around and outside the metro

Posted: Updated:

The weather could be to blame for a significant amount of crashes reported around and outside of the metro Thursday night.

Multiple crashes closed northbound Interstate 29 in Holt County. Slick roads are believe to be the culprit.

The lanes could be closed for up to six hours, authorities say.

The highway is closed at exit 92. The first crash occurred about 4 p.m.

Multiple vehicles are involved including a semi. One person was hospitalized.

Southbound lanes are open but traffic is slow.

Interstate 435 southbound at Interstate 70 is also closed due to a wreck and drivers are advised to use an alternate route. The wreck was reported about 7 p.m.

The Missouri Department of Transportation reports that I-29 from St. Joseph north is slick due to winter weather conditions.
