GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenville County deputies said they were able to arrest a man after he failed a TV show's lie detector test regarding accusations he sexually assaulted a girl.

Deputies said the suspect, 47-year-old Dennis Prude, asked to be a guest on the Steve Wilkos Show and wanted to take a lie detector test regarding an ongoing criminal sexual assault with a minor case in Greenville.

According to Jonathan Smith with the Greenville County Sheriff's Office, the investigation began in May when children services in Akron, OH, contacted them regarding a now 13-year-old girl who had been assaulted when she lived in Greenville.

Both Greenville County and Akron investigators worked the case and identified Prude as the suspect, but he had fled to somewhere in Alabama, according to Smith.

Smith said deputies were contacted on Wednesday from a representative of the show about the polygraph test and that Prude wanted to speak with investigators.

The show, which is filmed in Stamford, CT, provided transportation for Prude to be brought to Greenville, Smith said.

Following the investigation, deputies arrested Prude. According to his arrest warrant, Prude is accused of committing sexual battery on the victim who was 11 years old when it happened. Deputies said Prude was 45 at the time.

Prude is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center on $50,000 bond.

The Steve Wilkos Show released a statement on Friday that said:

Dennis L. Prude agreed to be on "The Steve Wilkos Show" and participate in a polygraph test, denying he had criminal sexual conduct with a minor. Mr. Prude failed the polygraph test during a taping this week and as a result, Mr. Prude agreed to turn himself in to authorities in Greenville, SC escorted by our show's security team. The full episode will air on January 30th, 2014, on "The Steve Wilkos Show."
