The Chattahoochee Valley Better Way Foundation to host community events for World Aids Day

Posted: Updated:

World Aids Day is Sunday, Dec. 1, and the Chattahoochee Valley Better Way Foundation (CVBWF) will be hosting Columbus events to educate the public about HIV and AIDS.

The CVBWF helps over 1,600 people in the Chattahoochee Valley who are living with HIV and AIDS by providing support, education, training, and exercise.

Jeremy Hobbs, Founder and CEO of CVBWF, says that for the first time, the number of people suffering from HIV and AIDS is decreasing, and the goal is to have no infections in 2015.

"We've been doing free testing for the last five years," says Hobbs. "Twenty percent of people living with HIV are unaware of their status, and if they don't get tested, they're responsible for seventy percent of all new infections. So take the stand, get tested, and do your part.

The CVBWF will be hosting a concert on Nov. 30, 2013, at the Uptown Stage on Broadway Ave. in Columbus, featuring Will Dockery and the Shadowville All Stars from 7 to 10 p.m.

Then, on Sunday, Dec. 1, they will host their 5th Annual World Aids Day Banquet from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The event is free. For more information visit the CVBWF website.
