(WMC-TV) - The Memphis mother who scuffled with New Mexico police during what was supposed to be a routine traffic stop is now speaking out.

Mom, Oriana Farrell, issued a editorial saying in part the following:

"After witnessing uniformed police officers fire shots at a van carrying my five children, I have learned ... a uniformed officer can shoot three bullets at my van and be considered to be "doing his job", but my doing what I can to get my own children away from such a terrifying individual has been termed "child abuse"

On the dashcam video, Farrell is seen driving away twice as police shot at her van. Her attempted escape was before she surrendered and was arrested.

Action News 5 will keep you updated on this case in the days to come.
