BULLHEAD CITY, AZ (CBS5) -

A Bullhead City man has pleaded guilty to murder in his infant son's death in June 2010.

The Mohave Daily News reports that 27-year-old Jonathan Edward Vandergriff pleaded guilty Friday in the death of his 5-week-old son, Matthew.

Under the plea agreement, Vandergriff will face a prison sentence of 13 years to 20 years.

Sentencing is set for Jan. 31.

Prosecutors say Vandergriff's son suffered trauma consistent with baby shaking and described the injuries as intentional.

Vandergriff's attorney says if the case had gone to trial, it could have gone either way since there were no witnesses except for Vandergriff's co-defendant, Staci Lynn Barbosa, and that their baby suffered previous injuries.

Last year, Barbosa was sentenced to 15 years in prison after having pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
