Several organizations in the Chattahoochee Valley area are planning events to make sure everyone in the area is fed this Thanksgiving.

Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013
Garner Bass C.M.E. Church Missionary Department will be hosting a free Thanksgiving meal on Wednesday, Nov. 27, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at 1306 6th Pl. in South Phenix City, Ala.

Words of Wisdom Christian Center, Inc. located at 420 38th St. in Columbus, Ga., will host their annual Thanksgiving Giveaway at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 27. Doors open at 10 a.m. Recipients will receive a food package containing 1 whole hen, 1 bunch of collards, 5 lbs. of corn meal, onions, celery and other food items.

United Tax Services at 2229 S. Lumpkin Rd. in Columbus, Ga. will be hosting their 2nd annual Feeding the Needy event at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 27.

Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 28, 2013
The Church of the Holy Family will be providing a free Thanksgiving meal for the homeless from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Church is located at 320 12th St. in downtown Columbus, Ga. The meal will take place in St. Mary's Hall.

Valley Rescue Mission's annual Great Thanksgiving Banquet will begin with at chapel service at 11 a.m. The meal will be under a tent in the parking lot at noon, at 2903 2nd Ave in Columbus, Ga.

The Salvation Army will be serving Thanksgiving Dinner from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. with the help of Spices of the Caribbean restaurant. The event will take place at 1718 2nd Ave in Columbus, Ga.

House of Mercy will be hosting a Thanksgiving meal from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. at 1532 3rd Ave.  in Columbus, Ga.

The newly opened LV Bar & Grill at 6516 Kitten Lake Dr. Midland, Ga. will be giving free meals for active duty soldiers who are not going home for Thanksgiving. Proceeds from all other meals will go to PAWS Humane.
