COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - One Columbus church spent the day serving those less fortunate this holiday season.
The Gwendolyn Wilkes Rainbow Center served a Thanksgiving meal to more than 100 people Tuesday. The event was open to the public and the meals were given away on a first-come-first serve basis.
We spoke with one woman who expressed her thanks for the free food.
"It feels great. It feels really good because I'm one of the less fortunate because I don't have, you know, I didn't know where my meal was going to come from today. So I'm thankful that I came up here today and that I was able to receive a hot meal today."
The church says they have been doing this food give-away for 25 years. They also gave away clothing and toys at the event.
