MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department responded to the eastbound lanes of Interstate 24 around 9:30 p.m. on November 27 due to a complaint of debris in the road.

Responding deputies arrived near the 16 mile marker to find several cars had hit debris in the eastbound lanes. Deputies say one vehicle was disabled when the driver hit what appeared to be a large wooden crate. They say the debris field then scattered for nearly a quarter of a mile. There were several reports of minor damage to other vehicles, as well as flat tires as a result of the incident.

According to the sheriff's department, one lane was temporarily closed for nearly two hours due to the debris field.
