(WTVM) - Alabama State Troopers say they are investigating 11 traffic deaths that happened over the holiday weekend.
That number is double what troopers had to handle this time last year.
During the 102-hour holiday travel period, there were a total of eight fatal traffic crashes.
Many of those happened in the east Alabama area. Troopers say seven of the people killed were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
