Three arrested in Phenix City counterfeit currency investigation

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -

Police have arrested three suspects in an ongoing investigation regarding counterfeit US currency that has been presented at several businesses throughout Phenix City, Ala.

Those arrested have been identified as 21-year-old Johnquez Barnes, 26-year-old Marquez Ellison, and 22-year-old Azavria Hayes. All have been charged with Possession of Forged Instrument. Ellison and Hayes have also been charged with Forgery 1st Degree.

A search warrant was executed at the residence of the three suspects located at 700 22nd Ave., Central Highland Apartments.

Counterfeit US currency was recovered from the residence.

The Criminal Investigation Division of the Phenix City Police Department continues to investigate this case.
