MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The Montgomery Zoo confirmed that one of its tigers escaped into another animal's pen Sunday.

Zoo officials say standard procedure after an animal gets out of its designated area calls for the facility to go into lock down.

The street near the zoo was temporarily blocked during the lock down and the Montgomery Police Department responded, which is standard procedure.

"[The staff] did all the measures that were necessary, and we secured the cat and got her back into her night quarters safe and sound," said Deputy Zoo Director Marcia Woodard.

No animals were hurt in the exhibit the tiger escaped into.
