Safe Kids Columbus hosts free helmet giveaway

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

A free helmet giveaway is coming to the Chattahoochee Valley.

If you are getting your child a bicycle, roller skates, or skateboard for Christmas remember that they will also need a safety helmet.

It is a state law that children must wear a helmet while operating a wheeled device.

On Dec. 20 at the main Columbus library on Macon Rd. from 4:30-6:30 parents can pick up a free helmet. Note, only parents are allowed to receive the helmet. Adults must also have their child present with them.

The sponsors will make sure the helmet fits correctly on the child's head and will show parents how to fit the helmet properly.

One free helmet will be offered for every child while supplies and sizes last.

Both Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will be there, too.
