New recycling center opens in Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - The city of Columbus' new recycling center is now up and running.

It won't change how you recycle, but it will change how it's picked up and processed.

The Columbus Consolidated Government held its grand opening Wednesday for the new sustainability center located off Schatulga Road.

The new building will be four times the size of the old center off Victory Drive which opened in 2008.

We spoke to assistant city manager David Arrington about the benefits of the new center.

The larger center will now allow Columbus to handle the recyclables of other counties or businesses.
