PC Police: Officer struck by student while directing traffic

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -

A police officer was struck by a vehicle yesterday, Dec. 12, according to Phenix City police.

Martin Hines Sr., a school resource officer with the Phenix City Police Department, was directing traffic as vehicles exited Central High School on Dobbs Dr. when he was hit at approximately 3:15 p.m. yesterday.

Police say a student was operating the vehicle that struck Hines.

Hines suffered a broken leg. He was transported to Midtown Medical Center, and underwent surgery.

The incident remains under investigation.
