Director of senior care center claims allegations of neglect are false

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Sheryl Drakeford runs the Loving Care Senior Care Citizens Home on Dogwood Dr.

Drakeford and three others are facing charges over what are being called "pitiful conditions" in the center.

Police say Drakeford collected hundreds of dollars from her patients over the years, and that the living conditions were poor.

In an interview with News Leader 9, Drakeford claims the accusations are false.

"That is such a terrible, wrong accusation," says Drakeford. "We had sixteen residents here. Sixteen residents [were] actually residing here. No one was on the floor, or sleeping on the floor."

In addition to neglect, Drakeford is also charged with felony abuse, exploitation of disabled persons, and operating a personal care home without a license.
