(WTVM) - There are hundreds of students within the Muscogee County School District who are homeless, and thanks to efforts of their fellow students they won't be hungry during the holiday break.
Students at Northside High School have been busy collecting food gift cards.
Students collected money, or bought the cards themselves to restaurants like McDonald's, Burger King and Chik-Fil-A. They'll be distributed Friday Dec. 20 to kids in need.
Amy Haynes is helping coordinate the gift card drive. She's created an organization called T1LT, pronounced "tilt," which stands for "That One Little Thing".
As the owner of three bars in Columbus, she will match part of the donation from the students to help ensure needy kids will have food during the holiday break.
