Dothan Police say a man attempted to escape arrest twice before being taken to jail.

Police say 28-year-old Ricardo Alwayne Salmon, of West Inez Road, was arrested and charged with first degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, second degree assault and escape in the first.

Salmon was initially pulled over on a traffic stop in the 1600 block of South Alice Street. He attempted to escape but was caught, to which a struggle ensued where he used his head to strike one of the officer's.

As officers were placing him inside the patrol unit, Salmon attempted to escape for a second time but was immediately caught and transported to the Dothan City Jail.

He is being held on a $600,000 bond for all charges.
