New copper IUD found to be more effective than birth control pills

(WTVM) - A new study suggests the IUD is making 20 times more effective than birth control pills.

For the first time in 13 years, a new IUD is on the market that is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Planned Parenthood says the copper IUD is the most effective form of emergency contraception.

The Sklya IUD is marketed to women who don't have children. The device uses copper because its ions kill sperm.
