BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A standoff in Pelham was brought to a peaceful conclusion on Saturday night after three and a half hours.

The Pelham Police Department says they responded, along with the Pelham Fire Department, to a call of a possible suicide attempt in the 2600 block of Chandalar Lane around 8:08 p.m. When they arrived, officer heard a gunshot and saw a white male fire two more shots before retreating into his residence.

The officers established a safety perimeter and evacuated surrounding residences. The Tactical Operations Unit and Crisis Negotiators of the Pelham PD were able to bring the incident to a peaceful conclusion.

No one was injured during the incident and residents were allowed back into their homes after it was over. The incident remains under investigation.
