Cookout Barbeque employee arrested for selling drugs

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -

An employee of Cookout Barbeque and More Restaurant was arrested on Dec. 20 after Phenix City authorities found a quantity of marijuana and other contraband inside the store. George James was arrested and charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana in the first degree, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

James also had two outstanding warrants for theft and failure to appear in court in Russell County.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office received information that illegal drugs were being sold to juveniles by employees at the restaurant. Undercover officers bought drugs from James while he was working at the store.

This case is under investigation.
