HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Bad weather to the north does not appear to have caused major delays or cancellations for flights in or out of Huntsville International Airport on Monday.

Traffic moved steadily to and from the airport all day, both in terms of vehicular traffic and foot traffic inside the terminal.

Apart from one 45 minute delay for an inbound flight from Atlanta and another small delay for passengers coming in from Washington DC, no other weather-related delays impacted Huntsville traffic.

Everyone at the airport appeared to be in high Christmas spirits. A lot of people shared ‘home for the holidays' hugs and smiles.

"We had a seven-year-old who was on his first flight ever, so everything was exciting. It didn't really matter if we had any delays or anything. It was a great time," said traveler Scott Leibrand.

While things continued to go well throughout the day at the airport, some experienced travelers reminisced about the times when they weren't as lucky.

"One time, I was stuck in Dallas because of fog overnight on Christmas Eve, so I consider that my worst," said Helen Howie.

Despite any holiday travel problems, many travelers said it is important to maintain the Christmas spirit.

"I fly, up to this year, probably 75-80,000 miles a year. I've come now to the point where things just happen for a reason, and you need to sit back, relax, and go with the flow," said Richard Bischoff.
