NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Runners in the Country Music Marathon will take their marks at a different place next year.

Organizers announced Monday the 2014 starting line will be on lower Broadway near Bridgestone Arena. The race has historically began in front of Centennial Park on West End.

Officials said the move is better for runners who stay in downtown hotels.

"This is the most significant change ever made in the history of the event and we believe changing the start location to downtown will be a positive one for both runners and the local community, truly showcasing Music City," said event director Malain McCormick in a news release. "Nothing says Nashville like the neon lights and live music along Lower Broadway.

"Runners staying downtown will literally be able to roll out of bed and be at the start line. With the finish line just a short walk away at LP Field, this will not only be one of the most convenient marathons for runners, but for spectators and supporters as well."

The change means the marathon, half-marathon and mini-marathon will all have brand new routes. Organizers will release official course maps in January.

The races are set for April 26.
