DOWNTOWN CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Many people are already making plans to ring in 2014 at the "Cleveland Rocks" New Year's Eve bash in Public Square.

19 Action News Reporter Ed Gallek looked into what's being done to keep party-goers safe.

Police confirm that they will take security measures before the event by creating checkpoints to join the party and no bags or purses will be allowed.

Just like other big events held downtown on the square, there will be an increase in the number of officers; complete with cops on horses.

Police also plan to sweep the area for bombs before people start to show up for the show.

The city will have folks watching live on city security cameras--looking for anything police on the ground might not see.

In addition, there will be extra firefighters and paramedics on hand in case of any medical emergencies.

In an attempt to keep things more controlled, there will be only one area where beer will be sold.

City leaders will officially reveal plans Monday at a news conference.
