Lee County man assaults two Sheriff's deputies

Posted: Updated:
LEE COUNTY, AL (WTVM) -

Alex M. Brown, 23, has been arrested and now faces felony charges after injuring three people, including two Lee County Sheriff's deputies.

A 20-year-old female contacted authorities on Monday, Dec. 30, to report a domestic dispute involving her boyfriend. She said he was drunk at the time.

When the Sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene, Brown came out on the porch, grabbed the female, and shoved her off the porch. The deputies informed him he was arrested for Domestic Violence.

When the deputies attempted to take Brown into custody, he threw one deputy against a vehicle, and slammed another one to the ground.  He ignored repeated commands to comply, and continued to resist the deputies.

The deputies were able to restrain Brown after using a taser.

Both deputies were treated for injuries at the East Alabama Medical Center, and have been released. Brown refused any medical treatment.

Brown has been charged with Assault Second Degree (two counts), Domestic Violence Third Degree (two counts) and Resisting Arrest (1 count). He posted a $ 12,500 bond and was released from the Lee County Detention Center.

The case will be presented to a Lee County Grand Jury for consideration after the first of the year.
