Several fire crews were called to a large garage fire in Henderson County.

It happened in the 900 block of Main Street in Corydon, Kentucky. The owner and his son told 14 News that they were both inside when they heard explosion.

"We heard a big boom," owner Paul Echols said. "We grabbed two fire extinguishers and tried to put it out, but there was no mercy."

Both Echols and his son were able to get out safely.

"It's hard to see. There are a lot of tools lost. Really don't know what to think," Echols told 14 News.

The garage was home to Paul's Remodeling and Lawn Care. Echols said everything was lost.

"Torches, grinders, everything. Probably $15,000 worth of tools," Echols said.

When fire crews arrived the flames were knocked down, and kept from spreading.

"Luckily, it didn't spread to the house. With that stuff in the garage, it could have caught their house quickly," said Bryan Coghill, Corydon Fire Chief.

Coghill says some fabrication work that was being done inside the garage sparked the fire.

There was no word on an official cause of the fire on scene Wednesday night. The owner said he does have insurance, but doesn't know yet when he'll be able to rebuild.
