A-State women head south for Thursday matchup

ARLINGTON, TX (KAIT) - The Arkansas State women's hoops team will head to Arlington, Texas on Thursday to face off with a new conference foe.

The University of Texas-Arlington Mavericks are fresh faces to the Sun Belt Conference for the 2013-14 season making this battle the first ever meeting between the two squads as conference opponents.

Brian Boyer and the Red Wolves will open conference play having won two of their last three games but lost their most recent battle against Texas A&M on Monday night in College Station, Texas.

The game is the first of a two game double header. The women's game will start at 5:00 pm with the Arkansas State men taking on the Mavericks at 7:30 following the conclusion of the women's game.

Highlights can be seen Thursday night on Region 8 News at Ten.
