COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Police are investigating after a woman was found shot in a vacant lot off of Farr Rd. on New Years Day. Details are still limited at this time, but a few facts are clear.

A Columbus police report describes a 36-year-old woman crying out for help around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1, in a vacant lot that used to be a park for mobile homes. The woman was reportedly found with gunshot wounds to her torso and right leg.

Moet Lee works near the scene and says,"That makes me scared, because I've got people around here. If they do it to [her], they'll do it to them. And that's just all I can say."

The woman was taken to Midtown Medical Center in Columbus. At last check, she is listed in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing. We will update as more information becomes available.
