Grocery store owner shot during robbery attempt

GREENVILLE, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

A Greenville store owner was shot when thieves tried to rob the business Friday night, but got away with nothing.

Greenville Assistant Police Chief Andrew Kaho said Gerome Seu was struck once in the chest at Min Sang Grocery on East Alexander Street.

Seu told investigators that around 7 p.m. two black males entered the store wearing black hoodies, displayed a weapon then jumped the counter.

According to Seu, one man pushed him down and fired at him while the other ordered another employee, Harry Seu, to open the register.

He refused and was hit twice on the head with the handgun.

Both were hospitalized and are in stable condition.

No suspects have been identified.

Greenville Police report two other holdups Friday night.

One occurred at Colorado Express on Highway 82 East around 7 p.m.

Investigators said would-be robbers left empty handed.

A third robbery happened around 10:30 p.m. at Rick's Express on West Alexander Street.

Witnesses say a lone black male fled with cash.

Police do not believe the three incidents are related at this time.
