COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Two people accused of breaking into several homes and businesses faced much more serious charges Monday, Jan 6.

Columbus detectives report Xavius Table, 21, and DeAisa Ransom, 24, were both involved in the deadly New Year's Eve burglary of Courtesy Shuttle on Veterans Parkway.

During the burglary, both Ransom and Achieveia Upshaw, 21, were shot by a part-owner of the business.

Investigators say Upshaw was found under a car at the crime scene with a gunshot wound to the torso. Ransom was located with three gunshot wounds a short distance away at Brittwood Apartments.

Ransom was released from Midtown Medical center on Jan. 5.

Initially, detectives believed the two female suspects were the only people involved in the crime. However, on the ride to the hospital Upshaw claimed Table left the girls at the scene, according to testimony.

Upshaw died a short while later at Midtown Medical Center.

Now, the state is charging both Table and Ransom with Upshaw's death.

"If they're going to be charged with something, they need to be charged with what they were attempting to do," DeAsia Ransom's mother proclaimed. "They were not the ones that pulled the trigger. They didn't shoot her."

Under Georgia Law code 16-5-1, a suspect can commit the offense of felony murder when, "In the commission of a felony, he causes the death of another human being..."

Ransom's mother, Shonda Ransom, said her daughter needs to suffer the consequences for the crime she committed, but not for murder.

"They were wrong. I'm not going to try to right their wrongs. They had no business doing what they were doing," Shonda Ransom added.

Shonda Ransom said her daughter claimed Table planned the robbery.

Authorities testified they located several stolen TVs inside a black Ford Explorer left at the scene. The car is believed to belong to Table.

The property is reported to have been stolen earlier that morning from Alley Cat's Elite Tattoo World. The suspects can allegedly be seen in surveillance video from the tattoo shop.

Detectives also claimed they had fingerprints linking the pair to a nail salon robbery in early December. Two flat screen TVs valued at $6,000 were reportedly taken during the burglary.

Table is allegedly linked to several home burglaries in North Columbus and Harris County.  Police testified Table was stopped while driving a truck he allegedly stole.

Table fled the scene, leaving his girlfriend behind, according to police testimony.

"Inside the car was property that came from two residents," detectives claimed.

Police claim Table's girlfriend, LaQuiesha Brown, also told them they robbed a third home. Table faced six additional first degree burglary charges, and one second degree burglary.

Judge Michael Cielinski set no bond on Table's charges. Table was additionally sentenced to serve 60 days for violation of probation.

Ransom was given no bond on her murder charge. Her remaining charge was set at $100,000. Ransom's mother says her daughter and Upshaw were not friends, but had just recently met.

She extended her condolences to Upshaw's family.
