MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Police have identified a man wanted for questioning in connection with a burglary that occurred January 5 at a home on 28th Avenue North.

Akeem Maurice Hamilton, 28, is the subject wanted for questioning. Police caution that Hamilton is a known gang member, and citizens should not approach him and instead contact police. He drives a dark, possibly dark green, Ford Explorer with the South Carolina tag IHB372. He does not live at the address to which this vehicle is registered, and has many non-working phone numbers.

If Hamilton is located, the Myrtle Beach Police Department say t contact them at 843-918-1382 and reference report number 14-000230.

Police arrived at an apartment in the 400 block of 28th Avenue North at about 1:13 a.m. Sunday morning to find the victim bleeding from his nose, according to the Myrtle Beach Police report.

The victim told police that he was asleep on his couch when two masked men kicked in his door, put their guns in his face, and immediately struck him in the face.

They proceeded to tie the victim up with his own bed sheets, and asked him where he kept his money. He told the men he did not keep cash on him and did not have a wallet. The suspects became upset, and then took the victim's flatscreen TV and Blu-Ray player, the police report states.

The suspects left out the front door, and the victim got his hands free, went out the window and jumped off the roof, the report states. The victim ran to the road and saw the suspects leave in a tan Ford Expedition with the license plate: IHB 372, according to the report.

The victim was seen by emergency medical services and detectives responded to the scene to interview him. There was no video surveillance or witnesses to the crime, the report states.
